Questions for discussion, following the SPARC Digital Repositories Meeting 2008: (Please initial your comments unless you'd like to remain anonymous. And, feel free to add additional points.)
1) Of what did you need more? Of what did you need less?

More on IR policies: deciding what to include in IR; how ensure copyright met; who vets materials. More sharing of marketing strategies that work for IRs. What about one breakout session that split into groups according to platform used: dspace, Digital Commons, EPrints, Fedora, etc. to give users a change to share tips and ask questions of people using the same platform?

I thought the Marketing Practicum gave me some good "take away" and I will share this with our department liaisons. In order to find some time for myself I decided to search for service that could supply me with the prime quality custom essays at prices that would be reasonable enough. The final choice was QualityEssay.Com as they did have an excellent reputation. I'm a convert-- it's about focusing on our users' needs and not necessarily the bells and whistles of our repository.
Question: What do we say -- how do we handle a situation -- when our users have needs that we are not yet prepared to help with? This could be a format that we can't (yet) fully support, or a service that some other repositories offer that we have not (yet) developed at our institution. Realistically speaking, we are looking at a year or more before some features are available. And I can foresee that there might be some services that for one reason or another we simply decide that we cannot/should not offer at all.
2) What needs to happen next – on your campus, in your community, in your country? Who will do it?

I recently spoke with an English faculty member who I know is very interested in OA and shared my experience from SPARC Digital Repositories 2008. He believes the best way to fire-up interest and raise support on campus is to hold an event, a one day conference. I would like to assist this coalescing group and help organize an event. If anyone has advice or a "game plan" to share please contact me. Ronee Francis r.francis@vanderbilt.edu.
